Golden Sands is the front door — beach, restaurants, nightlife, twenty minutes away. From there it opens up: old cities, white cliffs, monasteries hidden in rock, small fishing villages. Here's the short list of what's actually worth a day.
3.5 km of pale, fine sand and shallow water. Busy in summer, lots of beach bars, very kid-friendly water. The front door of the area.
Varna's own beach right below the Sea Garden — a long city strand with cafés, lifeguards and easy access. Combine with a walk through the park and lunch in the old town.
Even wider sand than Golden Sands, with shallower water and pine forest behind. Good half-day trip with kids — there's a long boardwalk.
Red cliffs jutting 2 km into the Black Sea. Old fortress ruins, dolphins below, a small chapel at the tip. Sunset here is something you don't forget.
A smaller, quieter beach in a cove just south of Golden Sands. Pine forest comes right down to the sand. Locals' favourite — fewer hotels, fewer crowds.
A cliff-edge nature reserve north of Kavarna with sea caves, ancient cave dwellings carved into the rock, and almost no one there. Wild swimming if you're feeling brave.
Bulgaria's third city. Old Roman baths, a pedestrian street that runs to the sea, and the Cathedral of the Assumption with its gold dome. Best café scene on the coast.
8 km of seaside park along the coast — Bulgaria's oldest. Locals walk, run, drink coffee on benches under chestnut trees. Free planetarium, dolphinarium, aquarium inside.
A small white-stone palace built for the Romanian queen Maria in the 1920s, with a vast botanical garden tumbling down to the sea. Go in the morning, eat in town after.
A cave monastery carved into a limestone cliff by monks 700 years ago, twenty minutes from the pods. Two levels of cells you can climb. The forest path is half the experience.
An ancient stone-and-timber town on a rocky peninsula 1.5 h south. UNESCO heritage — wooden houses, Byzantine churches, narrow streets and a single causeway connecting it to the mainland.
A field of natural stone columns 7 million years old, half an hour west of Varna. Strange, otherworldly, free to walk through — sand dunes between them and almost no one around. Best at golden hour.
Single-track and gravel trails run straight from the pods through pine and oak, with sea views opening at every ridge. Rent a mountain bike on site, or join a guided ride down to the coast.
Half-day quad tour with a local guide — up the back roads, out to viewpoints over the sea you'd never find on foot. Helmets and tea included.
Half-day yacht charters from the marina at Golden Sands — swim stops, lunch on board, sometimes dolphins. Bigger boats for groups; smaller ones for couples.
The Golden Sands beachfront has half a dozen beach clubs — sunbeds by day, DJs by night. Cubo is the long-running favourite. Go for the sunset, leave before 3 a.m.
Traditional Bulgarian places in Varna's old quarter — wood tables, grilled meats, shopska salad, rakia. Try Mehana Trakia or Stariyat Chinar. Order more than you think you need.
Honestly the best dinner option might just be your own outdoor grill, wine, and the fire pit on a cool night. Wood, charcoal and ice in the office if you forget.
We haven't opened yet — but we imagine most guests will barely make it down to the beach. The list above is here for the days you want it. The rest of the time, the pine forest works just as well.
